How Windows Phone update works for your Phone !
Windows Phone 7 has some very unique set of features & maximum number of users are satisfied with their Windows Phone 7. Back when the Windows Phone was initially launched there were certain set of features that didn’t appear on the phone. Microsoft then started the update cycle for this newly launched OS and provided with necessary features and security update for the Windows Phone 7 OS.

Talking about the updates, The update system as shown above consists of three types of updates you can call them Core OS update, Security update & performance and hardware updates. Within these only the Hardware based updates that are released for solving performance issues with a specific device or to increase overall user experience on a specific device. One such update was released today. This update is for Samsung Focus ( v1.4). This types of updates are phone specific & are used for improving overall quality of user experience.
So, if you have a Samsung focus, connect it to Zune to get your update. This update is currently delivered to AT&T users and will soon be live for other carriers too.

What Apps to have for Windows phone 7
7 has brought luck to Microsoft. Windows 7 has been a huge success with millions of copies sold out. Windows Phone 7 on the other hand has proven itself a great mobile platform. Windows phone has everything that a user wants. The UX and UI are just great. The marketplace is growing and everyone knows about the Zune and XBox 360 integration. My First Windows Phone 7 came as HTC HD7. Beginning to customize my WP as per my requirements I installed a number of apps, that suited to my purpose. So, here I am going to mention the basic and advanced apps that you might like with your Windows phone.
- Adobe Reader – Lets you open the commonly used .pdf format files. It’s a must have if you use a lot of documents.
- Weather App – While HTC has a HTC Hub integrated that tells me the weather conditions of the area, you can go for the Weather app if you don’t have a HTC device
- GPS App : Some Devices get free subscription, but some unfortunate like me have to suffice with Apps like GPS app. It works & if you need navigation , using Bing Maps is highly recommended.
- Where’s my car : It has proven itself a worthy app. In a crowded city where you don’t know much of the sorroundings, This app uses a GPS tag with a photo and let’s you see walking distance to your car. This is infact my one of the most used apps.
- Handy Scan : Scanning documents is also a pain when you are not at office/home or when there is no scanner around. Handy scan is really handy while scanning documents. It works well for a emergency scanner.
- IMDB : If you are a Movie krazy like me, IMDB app gets you information on each and movie just IMDB.com
- Pic2Shop : I used this app a lot of times while buying stuff off shelves and across the counter. It not only searches for the product also tells you the best deals on amazon etc.
- Twitter : If you are always tweeting this is the best app to get.
- Facebook app : This one needs a lot of addon features and development, but for now it works.
- Microsoft Translator : Ever stuck in a non-english place like france or italy , This app lets you translate anything you type in. It even speaks the translated text. Awesome app
- Foursquare : Best location tagging app
There are also a few app i would love to see :
- Forumming app
- Updated Twitter app
- Updated Facebook app
- A presentation app for changing slides via bluetooth on PC.

Windows phone : Call Waiting
expecting lots of calls & people telling you that your phone was busy is a disaster . The same happened with ny new windows phone 7 device. I searched for a option in my device to activate call waiting, but after not finding any I tried to search on the topic. After a while I came to know that to activate call waiting you need to dial *43# on your phone dialer. As you press call you get a confirmation saying succeeded. There you go the call waiting service gets activated.
Note: this applies to all devices based on #wp7. Atleast on HTC hd7

WP7: updates ready : I Got Updated
This being my first post from my windows phone 7 WordPress app, had to be something special. It was just confirmed on the windows team blog for windows phone that the first updates to the wp7 devices will be sent out today. This is not the copy & paste update which is much awaited, but is a essential update to the update service on the windows phone 7. Other updates will soon follow.

WP7 : HTC HD7 Unboxing
Htc HD7 is among the few launched Windows Phone 7 devices. Some of the others that are now available in India are the HTC Mozart & Samsung Omnia 7. So today we are going to see the Unboxing pictures of the new HTC HD7. Before these pictures letme put some things into place. HTC HD7 being a Windows Phone 7 device does not share the common HTC Sense platform that other devices previously had. This and other WP7 family devices share a Unique Tile based UI that is developed by Microsoft. A detailed review and a reality run will also be posted in a little while.
