Microsoft burries worldwide Spam network

“Operation b49″ is the official name of the series of steps taken by Microsoft in order to Stop what we all know as E-mail Spamming. In todays e-mail system, what we get is almost 40% Spam messages, which are relayed from here and there, from one server to other and it keeps on distributing, creating a more stronger network of Spam messages and hence giving access to many unwanted applications and hacker to the computers of internet users.

Following this action, A US judge granted Microsoft’s request to close 277 internet domains, which are supposedely responsible to control and command the waledac botnet. Explaining more on bot-net, it is a network of infected computers which are under the control of hackers. By closing down there domain it is beleived that it will disable almost 90,000 computers from sending out spam email messages. A recent analysis by Microsoft found that between 3-21 December “approximately 651 million spam e-mails attributable to Waledac were directed to Hotmail accounts alone”.
