Blackberry gets 60 more days before ban
Blackberry services have been considered as a security risk by many countries. The service to some extent has also been regarded as a National Security risk, as the encrypting messages, like emails, messages cannot be read or filtered by any law enforcement agency. Some countries fear this and think that even terrorist groups can use this service to gain access and recur important information within the country without ones knowing it.
RIM ( Research in Motion ) was asked to give the decrypt keys and access to the scrambled messages so that the LIAs can get access to the messages sent and the attacks like the Mumbai Terrorist attack can be prevented in the future. On this RIM has said that they do not do specific deals separately with one country. After being threatened with the BAN, RIM has aggreed to Lawfull access to their servers, but stands on their ” no specific deal” scenario. On this India has granted 60 days time for Blackberry services as it reviews the proposal from RIM.
