Domain Name Hack of India based IT Giant

Tata Consultancy Services better known as TCS whom we all know as one of the biggest IT providers in india got their DNS servers changed somehow and their domain was redirected  to move on to a different server. According to The Economic Times, these series of events started on sunday when the website for TCS (www.tcs.com) displayed itself to be for Sale & lasted for about three hours, The Email contact was listed as abed_uk@hotmail.com , apparantely the message repeasted itself in french as well.

It was also confirmed by the newspaper that the website is now functioning well and there was no compromise with the servers integrity. A formal investigation has also commenced. Not to forget that the registrar for www.tcs.com is Network Solutions which is among the largest DNS registrars in the world.  The same registrar notified about a possible vulnerability known as RFI- remote file inclusion which was used to overtake some of the Unix based servers, which resulted into a Loss situation for many websites.

As well known it is not the first time major companies are attacked, Twitter & Baidu two well known companies have also suffered about the same problem in past which was claimed to be a doing of some Iranian Cyber Army.

Taking this situation into account raises a question about the reliablity of TCS while it is also a security service provider.
